At Crimson Lights, Jack asks Diane about a memo. She barely responds. On the patio, Claire tells Victoria that Jack and Diane have been inside for twenty minutes and have barely spoken. Kyle hasn’t made the situation any better. Cole asks, “How do you mean?” Claire says when it comes to work, Kyle flips a switch and becomes angry and vindictive… especially when it comes to his parents. It’s sad because they love each other. Cole asks if Jack and Diane have been coming to her with their problems. Claire says not really, but being at the house, you pick up on things. She once asked Jack what was wrong. He told her it was about him being hurt and disappointed by Kyle. Victoria thinks she needs to stay uninvolved. Claire says it’s hard when she’s there all the time. Cole says she needs to make it clear she’s neutral.
Inside, Jack pushes Diane to talk to him… perhaps about Glissade taking a victory lap with their new product. Diane wants to know why he’s not started legal proceedings against their son, or better yet, having him arrested for corporate theft. Jack fumes, “So, that’s your solution? Have Kyle arrested?” She argues that he’s a thief. Jack says he’s their son. They can’t prove the product is the same until they have it tested. Diane complains that he’s dragging his feet on this. “I know what you’re doing.” She guesses he can’t bring himself to retaliate. Has it not registered with him that Kyle wants nothing to do with either one of them?! Their relationship with Kyle is over and the sooner Jack accepts that the better.
On the patio, Cole, Victoria, and Claire watch as Jack and Diane argue heatedly. Jack fumes, “So, that’s your solution, just write Kyle off.” Diane says he’s moved on and illegal actions have consequences. Jack says if Kyle stole that formula he didn’t do it alone. Diane argues that even if Victor was pulling the strings, Kyle is not blameless. Look at what he’s done to them. He needs to pay for what he’s done. Jack yells, “What the hell has happened to you?” He insinuates that she pushed him to this point. Diane gets up to leave and walks out. Jack notices the eyes on him and follows her.
On the patio, Victoria says Jack wouldn’t normally act out in public; he’s discreet. Claire says her instinct is to make sure they’re OK. Cole thinks she’s kind and decent, but it’s best to let people handle things themselves. Victoria tells her she shouldn’t be in the middle. Claire says her grandfather plays a role in all of this. Victoria asks, “What has he done now?”
In the jazz lounge, Victor tells Kyle he’s pleased with the press release for the new product. Kyle goes on about how firing Audra was a good thing. Victor warns his father won’t let this go. Kyle assures him that his feet are on the ground. He just wanted to let him know he made the right move by putting him in charge. Victor likes his confidence. Kyle tells him there’s no way to prove that he stole the formula. Victor will cover any fallout, but warns again that his parents won’t take this lying down.
Chance walks into Society and joins Summer, who asks if he found any clues about what happened to Heather. He has to be honest with her… he found disturbing evidence in the apartment. “Things don’t look too good for your brother right now.” Summer asks why her brother would be in trouble. Did he find something that makes him look guilty? Chance says it’s possible. He asks if Lucy could have hidden something incriminating out of fear. Summer can’t imagine any of this. She asks why Daniel would incriminate himself. Chance says it happens more than you might think. He suggests she talk to her brother and let him explain.
In the park, Daniel tells Phyllis that Chance is forcing them to vacate their apartment so they can do a deeper search. He’s taken rooms at the Club. Phyllis asks what he found that prompted this. Daniel tells her he feels like he’s losing his mind, “Nothing makes sense anymore.” Phyllis learns that Chance found Heather’s cellphone in the apartment along with some very bloody towels. He’s trying to figure out how they got there. Who would do that and why? “Maybe Chance is right and she had a lover.” Phyllis protests that it makes no sense. Daniel tells her about the unsent text to Paul with a bunch of lies about them fighting. He feels like he’s living in an alternate universe. Phyllis doesn’t know what’s happening, but there’s something very, very wrong.

Phyllis worries about Daniel not eating. He can’t focus on anything but this insanity. He brings up Sharon saying Heather was angry with him. Phyllis asks how Sharon got involved. Daniel tells her Chance said she came over to the apartment that night. Phyllis isn’t buying that Heather would tell Sharon of all people. Daniel says he and Heather were fine. Why would she tell Sharon and Paul otherwise. Phyllis says the person who has been highly instable lately is suddenly very clear on this. She doesn’t know what’s going on in her mind, but she doesn’t trust it.
At the Club, Kyle orders a shot of tequila as Diane walks in. She wants to congratulate him on Glissade’s new product… it must have taken years of research. She complains about him not even having the decency to be ashamed. Diane doesn’t even recognize him anymore. Kyle volleys that going to new lows is part of her M.O. She says they’ve failed him as parents and he’s failed them as a son. Kyle tells her to stay away from him and orders another drink.
In the jazz lounge, Jack strides up to Victor and booms, “This has to stop.” He’s corrupting his son to get back at him and it ends now. Victor plays innocent and asks Jack to stop bothering him with his conspiracy theories. Jack complains that Kyle could go to prison for what he’s coerced him into doing. Victor tells him to run along before he makes another spectacle of himself.
On the coffee house patio, Claire tells Victoria that Jack suspects Victor is the mystery investor at Glissade and manipulating Kyle to go after his family. Victoria doesn’t know if it’s true, but if it is, it’s an even better reason to stay out of it. She says her grandfather can be ruthless, “And I have the scars to show it.” She loves him, and generally it balances out for the good… except when it comes to Jack. Claire is confused about Victor. Victoria says he’s one of the most powerful men in the world, but he didn’t get that way by being a boy scout. He’s also a loving family man. You have to separate the two sides of him. Cole would apply that advice to Kyle too. The difference is, he’s not family. Claire will have to decide what she’s willing to live with.

In the park, Phyllis wonders why Sharon didn’t say she was at the apartment in the first place. Daniel says she told Chance she didn’t want to upset him. Phyllis gawps… she’s been coming after him for weeks. She can’t believe Heather would unburden herself to the woman who made their lives a living hell. Instead of telling him, she told a policeman. “This is odd,” Phyllis declares. “Very, very odd.”
Summer arrives at the park and hugs Daniel. He steps away to call Lucy and check in. Phyllis tells Summer it’s not good. “They found Heather’s phone at the apartment and bloody towels that apparently had been hidden there.” She adds that Heather apparently told Sharon they’d been fighting. Summer declares this a nightmare and asks why Sharon was even over there. Phyllis says she could be trying to make Daniel look bad. She hates him. Hopefully Chance is thinking about it. If it was anyone else on this case, Daniel would be locked up right now.

In the jazz lounge, Jack tells Victor he knew exactly where to stick the night. Victor thinks he’s lost control of his family. Jack calls him a sonofabitch. “It’s all about Nikki, isn’t it? Paying me back for trying to help her.” Victor fumes that he spent a night of debauchery in the hotel room. Jack levels, “Says no one else.” Victor booms, “Say I.” Jack grits that manipulating his son to steal form his own family is exactly the kind of bottom-scraping payback he’d come up with. Victor intones, “You just know that I’m going to sleep very, very well tonight.” Jack sneers, “I’m sure you will,” and walks out.
On the coffee house patio, Claire won’t accept that people can’t change. She was raised to be a monster by a monster, but she changed. Victor and Kyle can too. Victoria points out they have to want that. Claire thinks Kyle listens to her, and trusts her. Victoria repeats that they’re urging her to take care of her heart. Claire thinks maybe she still sees the world the way she wants it to be, and not how it is. She’s OK with that. She has plans to meet up with Kyle, so takes off after hugging her parents. Victoria sighs to Cole, “Why does my father keep doing this?” She will never understand it.

At the Club, Diane asks if Kyle has no remorse at all. She doesn’t even know who he is anymore. Kyle says she and his father pushed him to this. Jack shows up as Diane warns she won’t hold back. She will see him punished to the full extent of the law. Kyle sneers, “Jabot means that much to you?” Jack listens as Diane says she thinks she’s the only one who cares about Jabot. Kyle says she’s confirmed his suspicions all along, “You care more about your title and your job than your own son.” Diane says, “According to you, I don’t have a son anymore.” Jack intervenes and says, “That’s enough!” Diane’s relieved he’s coming to her defense, but her husband says, “I’m talking about you, Diane.”
Summer rejoins Chance at Society. She says her mother told her about the evidence in the apartment. She informs him that Daniel didn’t do this; there has to be another explanation. She wants to know what he actually thinks. “It’s a little easy, don’t you think?” Chance says that’s not all they found. He fast-tracked the blood analysis. It’s a match for Heather, “And Summer… there was a lot of blood on those towels.”

In the park, Daniel tells Phyllis that Lucy is going to meet them there. He’s going to have to tell her what they found in the apartment… but how? Phyllis says they’ll tell her together. Lucy appears and asks, “Tell me what? What’s wrong?” Phyllis tells Lucy that Chance and the police found some evidence. He doesn’t want to get into it, but it could be incriminating. Lucy asks if it means someone actually wanted to hurt her mom. Phyllis says they have to face the fact that it’s possible a crime was committed and someone is trying to make her father look responsible. Daniel states, “Someone might be trying to frame me for killing mom.”

At the Club, Victor shows up in time to hear Diane screeching at Jack for attacking her and not their son. Jack warns she’s making a spectacle of herself. Diane says at least she’s not coddling a criminal. Jack argues they know who the real criminal is here. Ruining Kyle’s life and putting him in jail won’t help. Not if they want him back in their lives. Claire arrives as Diane declares that she doesn’t know if she wants a relationship with Kyle at all at this point. He’s a greedy, selfish brat and a poor imitation of the loving boy she raised. Jack booms, “Until you didn’t. Until you left him and never looked back!” Claire asks Victor what’s happening. Victor says, “Something very interesting. I love it.”
Diane tells Jack that’s a low-blow and she doesn’t deserve it. Jack asks, “Oh, did I get that wrong?” Diane says he’s being mean. Jack tells her she’s turned out to be exactly who everyone warned him she was… a raging narcissist who only cares about herself. He didn’t realize it to now. Victoria and Cole walk in as Jack tells Diane she rolled all over Kyle. Was she going to do the same thing to him if she had the chance. Diane can’t believe that he thinks she loves herself more than she loves Kyle or him. How can he say that after everything she’s been through! Jack fumes, “After everything you’ve been through? Wow.” He suggests they stick to the facts. She abandoned Kyle when he needed her most, she wormed her way back into their lives by playing the perfect loving wife and mother until she got what she came for… the top spot at Jabot! Jack sneers that she’s a desperate opportunist who doesn’t care who she hurts on her climb to the top. Diane runs out. Jack grimaces and Victor smirks. Claire rushes over to Kyle.

At Society, Summer tells Chance she needs to know what they’re dealing with here. Chance says the amount of blood is from a serious wound. She could have died in the apartment. Summer argues someone must have broken in. Chance says there’s no signs of a break-in. Summer argues someone must have planted the phone. Chance asks, “Who? Tell me.” He warns that this is where they are right now. If he were Daniel, he would get a lawyer.
